DAY 11

AM: Galapaguera (Cerro Colorado)

This relatively new visitor site, also known as the “Galapaguera,” was established in 2003 on the northeast part of San Cristobal Island. Here, visitors have the opportunity to observe the hatchlings of different tortoise species that are kept in semi-natural habitats until they reach the age and size that will allow them to survive on the wild on their own.

PM: Interpretation Center

This site was opened in 1998 as a phase of the project “Interpretation and Environment Education Project.” Visitors enjoy expositions on natural history, human history, and conservation. The conservation efforts represent the movement to protect the wildlife and natural environment through means of population and tourist control.

The Interpretation Center has an outdoor stadium, audio-visual equipment, and meeting rooms.
