AM: Punta Espinoza
Located at the northeast side of Fernandina island, in the western tip of the archipelago, this visitor site is one of the world’s most pristine and best-preserved ecosystems. The landscape is dominated by the presence of the shield volcano known as “La Cumbre,” one of the youngest in the Galapagos. The trail on Punta Espinosa takes visitors along the coastline and the lava formations, populated by sea lions, flightless cormorant, penguins, lava lizards and marine iguanas.

PM: Punta Albermarle
Albemarle Point, known locally as Punta Albemarle, is a hidden gem nestled in the northern reaches of Isabela Island in the Galapagos. As the highest point on the island, this site offers a rare glimpse into both natural beauty and historical intrigue. Accessible solely by panga, visitors are treated to an unspoiled environment teeming with unique wildlife. Among the highlights are the Galapagos Flightless Cormorants, known for their remarkable adaptations, and some of the archipelago’s largest marine iguanas basking on the rugged shores.
The site also houses the ruins of a World War II radar base, a relic from the days when American troops patrolled these waters. The disintegration of time has left these remnants in a hauntingly picturesque state, juxtaposing human history with the timeless natural environment.
