Cabo Rosa Tunnels Tour

Explore the Mesmerizing Cabo Rosa Tunnels

Embark on an unforgettable adventure to the Cabo Rosa lava tunnels, locally known as ‘The Tunnels,’ on Isabela Island. This day tour begins at the pier in Puerto Villamil, where we will board a speedboat for an approximate two-hour journey to our destination.

The Cabo Rosa Lava Tunnels

The Cabo Rosa lava tunnels were formed millions of years ago when lava flows from the island’s volcanoes solidified upon contact with water, creating an outer crust while the interior remained liquid. Over time, these tunnels have been sculpted by natural forces, resulting in a breathtaking network of formations.

Snorkeling in a Unique Underwater Landscape

Upon arrival, we’ll dive into the clear waters for an extraordinary snorkeling experience. The tunnels’ underwater landscape is adorned with lava and coral formations, providing a unique habitat for diverse marine life. You’ll have the chance to encounter Galapagos sharks, playful sea lions, elegant sea turtles, and a colorful array of tropical fish. The presence of Galapagos penguins and blue-footed boobies adds to the rich biodiversity of this incredible site.

Discover «El Finado» Snorkeling Site

After exploring the tunnels, we will navigate a short distance to another fantastic snorkeling location known as “El Finado.” Here, the underwater adventure continues as we search for blue sharks, trumpet fish, surgeon fish, and, with a bit of luck, golden and eagle rays. The tranquil waters of El Finado offer an ideal setting to observe these fascinating marine creatures up close.
