Hotel Otavalo stands as a harmonious blend of the old and the new, with a focus on providing luxurious hospitality. Originally constructed in 1930 by Mr. Elias Endara, the architectural inspiration stems from Spanish colonial design. Initially, it served as one of the few rental houses of its time, hosting the early Otavaleño families. During this period, the second floor housed «La voz de los Lagos,» a radio station owned by Mr. Modesto Jarrin Barba.
Around 1955, Dr. Marcelo Endara Miño purchased the property from his father, transforming it into the renowned Hotel Otavalo. Over the years, it gained national and international acclaim, offering accommodation, dining, and a cafe. In 1998, Mr. Ivan Endara Bolaños acquired the hotel, implementing necessary enhancements to meet the evolving demands of tourists. In 2015-2016, Art Hotels Ecuador took the helm, undertaking a significant reconstruction while preserving the original architecture. The grand re-opening on November 23, 2018, marked Hotel Otavalo as the sole luxury boutique hotel in the northern region, with 29 rooms reflecting true luxury hospitality and encompassing all services expected of a boutique hotel of this category.
