Day 6 – Transfer to Isabela Island / Galapagos tortoise breeding center and Tintoreras Islet visit
Your day begins early with a boxed breakfast to take with you. You will be picked up from your hotel and transferred to the main pier, where you’ll receive assistance in boarding a ferry to Isabela Island. Upon arrival, a guide will be waiting to transfer you to the hotel, where you can leave your luggage. Your first stop of the day is the enchanting Flamingo Lagoon.
The trail leading there is approximately 2 km (1.24 miles) long. Along the way, your guide will explain the diverse vegetation and unique geology of Isabela, one of the youngest islands in the Galapagos. At Flamingo Lagoon, you may witness flamingos feeding or performing their elegant breeding dance in the artificial lake, originally formed by construction excavations and later filled by rainfall.
The tour then continues to the Arnaldo Tupiza Giant Tortoise Breeding Center, one of the most significant breeding centers in the Galapagos. Here, you’ll gain fascinating insights into the reproduction and breeding of these majestic creatures while observing the various tortoise pens.
After this visit, you’ll return to your hotel with some time to enjoy lunch on your own before the next adventure at Tintoreras Islet. Located a short distance from Puerto Villamil, Tintoreras is home to a diverse array of aquatic wildlife. Its turquoise, crystalline waters are inhabited by white-tipped reef sharks, Galapagos penguins, marine turtles, and sea lions. One of the beaches, surrounded by mangroves, is a rare site where marine iguanas successfully reproduce.
After a day filled with unforgettable experiences, you will be brought back to your selected hotel to relax and reflect on your adventures.
