Galapagos Intensive – Day 5

Day 5 – Transfer To Santa Cruz Island and Visit to Tortuga Bay

With an early breakfast or a boxed breakfast, you will begin your journey back to Santa Cruz. A transfer will take you to the Isabela pier to board the public speedboat for the return trip. Upon arrival in Santa Cruz, you will be transferred to your hotel to leave your luggage and prepare for the next activity.

Your guide will take you to visit Tortuga Bay, one of the most beautiful beaches in the Galapagos Islands. The trail to Tortuga Bay starts in Puerto Ayora and takes about 35 minutes to walk along a well-paved path through arid coastal zones and a Scalesia forest. Along the way, you may see land birds, wild giant tortoises, and lava lizards.

Finally, you will arrive at Playa Brava, part of Tortuga Bay. Be cautious when swimming here as there are strong undercurrents. Continuing to the other side of the beach, you will reach Playa Mansa, which is protected by mangroves and separated from the surf of Playa Brava. Here, you can swim, sunbathe, and snorkel. At Tortuga Bay, you can see a wide range of animals such as marine iguanas, sea lions, Galapagos shorebirds, sea turtles, tropical fish species, white-tipped sharks, stingrays, and manta rays. After this visit, you will return to your hotel.
